A sports card game with a difference, legends is also brand-new for 2010 and again designed and produced by Paul Godding.
Packaged in a cute green box, legends is a name-matching game that requires players to try and get rid of their cards. As the title suggests, the names on the cards are all sporting legends, 18 in all, who made their names from the 1960s to the present day, representing 14 different sports and 10 different nations.
Each of the 64 cards in the pack (56 red, 6 green, 1 pink, 1 white) contains three names. Throughout the pack, the top section has six different names, as does the middle and bottom sections. When the cards are dealt to the players, the rest of the cards are left in a pile (the grass pile) on the playing surface. The top card is then turned over to form the playing pile. The first player to have their turn (to the left of the dealer) has to match at least one name when placing one of their cards on top of the playing pile.
The game continues in a clockwise direction until someone is eventually out of cards and they are declared the winner for that round. This is the basis behind the game, but is a bit of a simplistic view as there are many twists and turns along the way:
- If a player is able to match two names, they are allowed another turn.
- If a player is unable to match any names at all, they miss their turn and must pick up a card from the grass pile
The pack contains different coloured cards. The majority of cards are red, but there are eight special cards, and this is what they can do:
- There are 6 special green cards which contain all of the 18 sporting legends. If a player is able to place one of these cards down, they are automatically allowed the chance of placing another card down.
- The special pink card can be placed down at any time and does not have to match the card currently on top of the playing pile.
- If a player is able to place down the special white card, this automatically wins them the round and play stops.

When one of the players wins the round (either by running out of cards or placing down the special white card), that player scores 0 points. The other players then count how many cards they have left in their hand and they score 1 point per card, unless they have a special card which counts as 5 points.
- It can be an advantage for a player to have special cards in their hand during the game, but definitely not at the end when an opponent has won the round.
- Players are not allowed to place a special card down during their first turn. Only a red card can be placed down during each player’s first go!
The legends box contains all the above rules in detail. Also enclosed in the box is a scorepad which contains space for up to 6 players and 6 rounds of play.
The lowest score over the whole match is declared the legends winner!
