The PAUL GODDING Maths Roadshow utilises a whole range of exciting resources designed to stimulate the children and give them a fun and memorable experience while learning through various classroom-based activities.
A very popular programme is designed specifically for teachers. This is very closely linked to The Maths Games & Puzzle Day in that teachers and other educators can take part in a one-day course, exactly as the children would do in school, that explains how many of our games are played. The teaching staff do play a much wider range of games to see what sort of resources are available and how games can be adapted to suit different ages and abilities.
These sessions go down well with the teachers and classroom assistants as they also have the opportunity to play the games at length. They can then see for themselves, first-hand, the strengths of each game. The participants also have the chance to play individually and in teams, thus placing them in the position of the children, not a bad thing in my view!
Many of those present have been given the responsibility of viewing and choosing their favourite games with the intention of setting up a maths games club within their school in the near future. In most cases, and as mentioned above, the games can be adapted and rule changes can be introduced to many of the games. Children are often superb in creating new ways of playing a game!
We have delivered sessions all over the UK and also worked with our business associates in Malaysia, having already delivered a few really enjoyable sessions with many teachers during a visit in 2006 to the cities of Ipoh and Kuala Lumpur.
